Saving our communities with our life experiences
Taqwaa’s Youth Diversion (TYD) is a juvenile awareness program designed to provide productive pathways for young people who, through various life situations, have a higher likelihood of experiencing the prison system than others.
TYD is effective because we are led and staffed by formerly incarcerated people who can relate, first-hand, to the issues that lead to incarceration, with proven intervention techniques to improve the odds against our youth.
Leverage both theoretical and practical experience to prevent juveniles from entering or continuing hazardous activities that lead to the California Youth Authority, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation systems, or worse.
Establish relationships with our young folks, their families, their educators, and mentors to show how each touchpoint in a young person’s life can guide them to productive outcomes.
Success is ensuring that our young people develop into upstanding community leaders who also see themselves as role models for those younger than they are, and for those who are similarly situated in difficult situations.
